BY TIFFANY CONTRERAS–The Palm Desert Aquatic Center announced today that it’s extending its summer hours for lessons and events.
The extension will begin June 12 for water park play, swimming lessons, water classes and available party rooms for birthdays and special events.
Varying hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all activities: swimming pool, diving boards, splash playground and slides; furthermore, the splash playgrounds and slides will remain open for an additional two hours until 7 p.m.; the lap pool will be open from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., but from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. A monthly fitness pass for lap swimmers is $75 for local residents and $100 for non-residents.
If youth wish to participate in these activities, they must be between 6 months-old and 17 years-old.
Swimming lessons will begin June 15, with subsequent sessions beginning every two weeks. The cost is $60 for locals and $80 for non-residents.
In addition, there will be Shallow Water exercise, Deep Water boot camp and Arthritis and Injuryrehabilitation recovery. The cost for a drop-in session is $6 for residents and $8 for non-residents. If you wish to purchase a monthly pass, the cost is $65 for residents and $85 for non-residents.
If you’re a frequent visitor, you may be eligible for a punch card. This will allot 25 visits for $94, depending on age and residency.
As PDAC is filled with adventure and fun, it’s a common spot for birthdays and celebrations. If you wish to rent the party room, it’s $75 for residents and $100 for non-residents. You must make a reservation in order to rent. Cabanas are also available for $60 per half day between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; $120 for a full day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Daily entry cost ranges from $2.50 to $4 for Palm Desert residents and $3.75 to $6 for non-residents – both of which depend upon age.
As outside food and beverages aren’t permitted – BBQ burgers, hot dogs, pizza, nachos, snacks and soda are for sale at the daily concession stand.
While pools are monitored by trained lifeguards, children 6 years and younger must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult and have an adult in the water, if they are not swimmers.
